About UWM

College of Engineering and Applied Science, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) fully leverages its status as a leading research university and its strategic location in Wisconsin’s professional development hub to foster a close-knit and supportive community of engineering and computer science students, faculty, and staff. The College of Engineering and Applied Science excels in its robust industry partnerships, abundant research opportunities, and rigorous academic foundation.

The college offers comprehensive student support, including career counseling, academic planning, and a wide range of student organizations to ensure that students receive a well-rounded education and a smooth transition to the workforce. The Career Services Office hosts two major on-campus career fairs annually and provides career preparation courses aimed at enhancing resumes, interview skills, and more. These efforts facilitate direct connections between students attending the career fairs and corporate representatives.

In classrooms and laboratories, students work on research projects addressing societal needs in areas such as advanced manufacturing, biomedical and health sciences, sustainable energy, infrastructure and transportation, and water resources and environmental issues. Wisconsin is home to nine Fortune 500 companies, seven of which have headquarters near the UWM campus, making industry-academic collaborations highly prevalent. After enrolling for one year in the U.S., students are eligible to gain work experience through internships with these companies.
